Daniel P. Dwyer
Mr. Dwyer is a fourth generation funeral director raised in the family
funeral home in Pittsfield, Massachusetts that was established by his
great-grandfather in 1904. He graduated from Hudson Valley Community
College’s Mortuary Science program in May 1988 and became a
Massachusetts licensed funeral director and embalmer later that same
year. In the summer of 1989 he obtained his New York funeral director’s
license. He continued to work at the Dwyer Funeral Home until August
1991 when he became President of Ker-Westerlund & Fleming Funeral
Home in Brattleboro, Vermont and obtained his Vermont funeral
director’s license at that time. In 1994 he married Kelly, a fourth
generation cemeterian from Flat Rock, Michigan. In 1997, Ker-Westerlund
& Fleming was sold and he moved permanently to Michigan. In late
1997 he obtained his Michigan funeral director’s license and in early
1998 began plans for a funeral home to be located next to Michigan
Memorial Park. In July of 2001 Dan and Kelly realized their dream when
Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, a state of the art 22,000 square foot
facility opened next to Michigan Memorial Park. Dan has been involved
in numerous community projects and events throughout the years and is a
member of Rotary, Elks and Masons. He and Kelly are the proud parents
of three daughters, (possibly the fifth generation of funeral directors
and cemeterians) Alexandra, Danielle and Quinn. They currently live
next to the cemetery and funeral home while their residence above the
funeral home is being completed.

Richard
L. Town
Richard L. Town is a highly experienced management, sales and marketing
executive with expertise in the funeral and insurance industries. He
began his career as an officer with the United States Army, serving as
instructor and writer for the Nuclear Weapons Employment Division with
the U.S. Army Artillery and Missile School. In this capacity, Lt. Town
authored several new course instruction manuals and taught nuclear,
chemical and biological warfare techniques to officers up to and
including the rank of General.
Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge from military service, Lt. Town
completed his education at Wayne State University, receiving a Michigan
Funeral Director’s License while serving as an officer in the United
States Army Reserve. He then served as a staff funeral director with
the J.L. Peters funeral home before joining Howe-Peterson, Inc.As a
member of the senior management team of Howe-Peterson, Inc. for over
twenty years, Mr. Town managed the company’s Taylor, Michigan location
were he more than doubled annual revenues and was instrumental in
developing policies and procedures to improve and expand customer
service; streamline internal operations; and meet federal and safety
regulations, EEO requirements and training needs.
In 1986, Mr. Town created and developed one of the first Michigan
off-site pre-need funeral planning centers utilizing insurance and
trust investment options. The concept has become the national model for
progressive and competitive companies seeking to expand market share.
In 1991, Mr. Town joined Fortis Family, Inc., a $300M niche insurance
company, where he led the company’s Northern Division as Vice President
of Sales.
Most recently, Mr. Town joined Michigan Memorial Funeral Home as a
partner and General Manager responsible for start-up, operations, and
at-need/pre-need sales.
An active supporter of community organizations, he is a lifetime member
of the Dearborn Exchange Club as well as former Vice President of the
Downriver Council for the Arts. He is currently active with the Huron
Township Rotary Club.
Mr. Town possesses outstanding leadership and interpersonal
capabilities and has consistently demonstrated these qualities
throughout his life and career. Married with two sons, Erik and Errol,
he resides in Huron Township where he enjoys boating and antique
collecting. He is also active in community theater as an actor and
director and has performed in shows including A Few Good Men, 1776,
Fiddler on the Roof, Deathtrap, The Music Man, The Lion in Winter and
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. He is the proud “father” of two boxers, Amos and
Annie.

Chris Kane- Office Manager
Chris has lived in the Downriver area her whole life. She graduated
from Trenton High School and attended Oakland University where she
majored in music before discovering the business world. She honored her
many business skills by working in administrative and management
positions with Ford Motor Company, Diversified Service Technologies,
Inc., Great Lakes Steel, and mostl recently as the Controller for
several charitable foundations in the Detroit Masonic Temple. She has
been part of the funeral home’s team almost from the beginning and was
able to observe the actual building of the facility. Chris and husband,
Brian have two daughters and one grandchild, and currently live on
Grosse Ile. In her spare time she sings with “Friends” a trio, which
specializes in performing benefit concerts to raise funds for
symphonies and other foundations.

Renee Miles- Administrative Assistant
Renee is a life-long resident of New Boston, attended Huron High School
and graduated in 1977. She is a certified Medical Assistant and worked
many years for a “home town” doctor in New Boston before being
recruited to serve on the funeral home staff. She is married to her
wonderful husband, Gary, has four children and one grandchild. Their
closely knit family spends much time together cooking, camping, raising
rabbits, riding horses, and allowing themselves to be “owned” by two
loveable dogs.

Corey L. Sika
Corey L. Sika is the Preplanning Consultant at Michigan Memorial
Funeral Home. She comes to us from Bay City, Michigan where she was the
Family Services Coordinator at Trahan Funeral Chapel for two years.
Corey is a graduate of Central Michigan University where she received
her Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology. In her spare time, she
loves spending time with her family and friends. Corey’s hobbies
include running, weight lifting, dancing and in-line skating.
